Rafael de Tours-Bichon (born 15 January 1968 in Tours, France) is a French artist and art historian, conservator, and cultural professional specializing in the preventive conservation and restoration of fine arts. He holds a Master 2 degree in Art History, with a specialization in preventive conservation and the restoration of fine arts, reflecting a strong academic foundation in both historical research and applied conservation practices.
Since 1992, Mr de Tours-Bichon has served as President of Atelier Rafael, based in Nice, where he has been actively engaged in the study, preservation, and creation of works of art. His professional activities bridge traditional conservation methodologies with contemporary artistic practices. In 2006, he expanded his international engagement by becoming President of KaizenGallery 2.1 in Berlin, Germany, fostering cross-cultural dialogue and the promotion of contemporary art. Since 2021, he has also presided over KaizenGallery.fr, an online art gallery dedicated to the dissemination and visibility of artistic and cultural projects.

Rafaël de Tours peint la beauté à l’Atelier 17
Ancien élève de l’école du Louvre et des musées nationaux, Rafaël de Tours expose une vingtaine de ses œuvres à l’Atelier 17, jusqu’au 10 août (2013). Invité par la directrice de la galerie, Sylvette Cohen, ce dernier y présente des peintures matures et sur toile. « Il faut que tout le monde sache que Rafaël est talentueux. Surtout dans la conjoncture actuelle, difficile pour les artistes. Il est capable de tout peindre », applaudit Sylvette Cohen.
« Sensuel, raffiné, poétique »
L’exposition, mélange de poésie iranienne et d’œuvres de ses débuts, à une époque où Rafaël était encore étudiant, a séduit les personnes qui ont assisté au vernissage.
À l’image de Christine : « Il y a un sujet. C’est fabuleux à découvrir. C’est très sensuel, raffiné et poétique. Je suis étonnée quand je vois ses peintures. Je ne le connaissais pas du tout. C’est un grand plaisir. »
Après avoir connu une période beaucoup plus trash et teintée de provocation (1987 – 1997), l’artiste originaire de Touraine et installé à Nice depuis 2011, mise aujourd’hui sur un style épuré : « Je travaille sur des séries, des poésies persanes, le cycle d’Abraham et les messes brèves de Jean-Sébastien Bach. Aujourd’hui, je veux peindre avec élégance dans une recherche d’esthétique. »
Rafaël de Tours n’hésite pas à mettre en scène ses proches. A l’instar d’une de ses toiles, condamnant les massacres perpétrés en Syrie. Intelligente et poignante, dans laquelle sa fille apparaît.

Atelier Rafael : Le sauveteur du patrimoine artistique
Passionné d’art depuis toujours et curieux de nature, Rafaël de Tours a choisit le métier de restaurateur de tableaux afin de satisfaire les esthètes de tous horizons – collectionneurs et particuliers – et de préserver les sites artistiques. Formé à l’école du Louvre puis au Château de Versailles, l’artiste peaufine sa spécialité de conservateur du patrimoine aux quatre coins de l’Europe. Son savoir, sa technique, son expertise en papiers anciens et son talent donnent une seconde vie aux oeuvres abîmées — des plus classiques aux plus contemporaines. Rafaël de Tours réalise aussi ses propres créations à la demande ou bien à l’inspiration, sur différents supports tels que le papier, la toile, le bois et les murs – qu’elle soient abstraites, stylisées ou illustratives.

Rafaël de TOURS a exposé en France, comme à l’étranger de nombreuses fois, mais c’est en exclusivité à L’ATELIER 17 qu’il exposera sur NICE…
Cet ancien élève de l’Ecole du Louvre et des Musées Nationaux (Le Louvre, Château de Versailles), vous émerveillera par son oeuvre, vous intriguera, mais il ne vous laissera pas indifférent..
Capable de tout peindre, y compris de copier les Grands Maîtres, il s’est amusé au cours de ces 20 dernières années à signer ses oeuvres différemment en fonction du style de peinture qui créait l’oeuvre…ll fut tour à tour « Victor Mortis »… »Vassiliev Kougaryne »… »lzen Hashka » et quelques autres encore…
Mais l’exposition qu’il fera du 11 Juillet au 27 Juillet 2013 se fera sous son vrai nom d’Artiste: Rafaël de TOURS…
Il faut également savoir que Rafaël de TOURS est aussi un spécialiste de la conservation préventive, de la restauration des oeuvres d’Art et un spécialiste de la « Dorure à la Française »…Ce qui fait aussi de lui un fabuleux « Encadreur »….
Il a d’ailleurs enseigné (avant que ne lui vienne l’envie de se consacrer complètement à son ART), les théories et les procédés de création des oeuvres d’Art classiques, modernes et contemporaines…
Mais surtout il est habité par l’Art et par la peinture qui ont envahis son corps, sa tête et ses tripes…
Il affectionne plus précisément les grands formats: toiles, panneaux, murs…Aucune dimension ne l’effraie, aucun challenge ne peut le faire reculer…Tout s’étudie, tout se prépare, tout se pense, tout finit par se faire…Et de temps à autre il se lance dans une série de miniatures d’une finesse telle que ses amis graveurs s’y laissent prendre!!!
Il se déplace avec une aisance incroyable d’un bout a l’autre de l’univers plastique et esthétique avec la liberté propre à notre époque et à l’Artiste…
